University of Tennessee partnership marks major milestone in leadership development
Astra University has launched its most ambitious leadership development initiative yet: the Ascend Leadership Program in partnership with the University of Tennessee’s Haslam School of Business.
This intensive, 9-month program represents Astra’s continued commitment to intentionally developing and strengthening leaders across the network.
Participants were nominated by their company leadership based on their track record of delivering results and capacity to lead transformational change within their companies and across the Astra network. This selective approach ensures the program develops leaders who are already making an impact and have the potential to drive even greater change.
Leaders from across the Astra network are participating in the inaugural Ascend cohort, including representatives from Agentis, Air Comfort, APCCO, Aireko Services & Installations, Astra Platform Team, Bertke Electric, BME, Diamondback Mechanical, G.E. Mechanical, Griffen Plumbing & Heating, Helios HVACR, Knott Mechanical, LA Hydro-Jet, Marick Mechanical, RedBlue, Texas Chiller Systems and The Tustin Group. This diverse group brings perspectives from different markets, specializations and operational approaches, enriching the learning experience for all participants.

Program Structure and Impact
The Ascend Program is designed as a comprehensive leadership journey spanning nearly nine months:
Week #1 On Campus (Spring)
Participants unlocked their leadership potential through dynamic classroom sessions, real-world simulations and one-on-one coaching from distinguished Haslam School of Business faculty. The curriculum focused on developing capabilities in self-awareness, leadership repertoire, team effectiveness, strategy and finance.
Summer 2026 Applied Project
Each participant leads a project addressing a priority business challenge at their company, supported by their mentor and Haslam faculty, along with their Ascend cohort for peer collaboration and learning.
Week #2 On Campus (Fall)
The program culminates with advanced leadership training focused on driving change, navigating complex strategy and finance decisions, making critical decisions under pressure and delivering compelling project presentations. Graduation takes place in October 2026.
